About Melanie

Melanie White was born and raised on the bike paths and bay beaches of Brewster. As the daughter of a carpenter, she has always had an eye for building and love for the natural landscape of Cape Cod. Hard work was instilled in her at a young age, where many summers and vacations were spent pounding nails and learning on the job.

Melanie attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst as a Division I Field Hockey scholarship athlete. She went on to receive her master’s degree from the same school in Biomechanics. Her research background took her to jobs at Saucony, Foot Joy and Tap Pharmaceuticals but her desire to return to the Cape and start a family brought her home.

To earn a living on the Cape, Melanie partnered with her mother (a salon owner and stylist of 30 years) and opened a hair, skin and nail Salon in heart of Orleans. Now after 12 years The Salon 16 West is thriving and it is time for Melanie to do what she is passionate about in the town she loves. With a research background, knowledge of the lower Cape and understanding of premier customer service, Melanie would love to guide you to your piece of the Cape.

Melanie resides in Brewster with her husband and three children. Her love for sports, the outdoors and her community affords her many opportunities to give back. She is an avid runner, participating in many local and regional events. She helps fundraise for the Brewster PTO and Martha White Golf Tournament which provides scholarships to local students. For the past 5 years, she has participated in the Pan-Mass Challenge, the largest fundraising event in the country, which accumulates over $45 million dollars each year for the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Institute, during a two day, 192 mile ride.
